Welp, another setback. I amped up the aggression and allocation for Week 6, and despite having a positive ROI for 99.9% of the slate, I finished with a sizable loss.
I 150-maxed the $1 GPP ($150 in allocation, it helps to be good at math), plus another $300 or so in allocation for my 3 “main” lineups that were spread across small field GPPs, leagues, and multipliers.
I got smoked in the $1 GPP, two of my three main lineups busted, while a majority of my earnings were propped up by my Rams 3x1 main lineup.
Here’s where we sit after NFL Week 6:
NFL Week 5 balance: $538.52
NFL Week 6 balance: $303.19
NFL Week 5 YSRP balance: 2,428
NFL Week 6 YSRP balance: 2,762
Here are some of the strategies I used this week with advice on how to implement them on other DFS sites:
Strategy #1: RB exposures in 150-maxing
This week was my first 150-max excursion on Yahoo, but the same principles hold true that we outline in our NFL Strategy Guide. As a result, I had heavy exposure to a handful of undervalued, high volume RBs in Week 6: Kareem Hunt, Khalil Herbert, Devontae Booker, Darrell Henderson, Austin Ekeler, etc. In fact, I had 73% Hunt, who had a floor game in a blowout loss where he left the game injured.
Hunt’s performance certainly hurt, but it wasn’t the deciding factor in my ROI. Sure, he could have scored more points and netted me a few more dollars, but my RB exposures weren’t my downfall. Two of my three game stacks busted, while the third (LAR-NYG) didn’t produce a viable runback.
How to implement this on FanDuel or DraftKings: Don't let one week of results skew your process. If you're MMEing, stick to the strategies outlined in our strategy guide.
NFL Week 6's Pivotal Moment
I was returning anywhere from $600-$1000 for most of the afternoon. I was still profiting $150 or so before the final play of the slate. But CeeDee Lamb at 17% in GPPs (and higher in smaller contests) catching a second touchdown cut my winnings by more than half and gave me a big loss for the week. A truly devastating way to end a slate.
Next Steps
I can’t 150-max this week since I’m back down to the $300 mark, so we’re sticking with 3 main lineups. It’s been a roller coaster so far this NFL season, and I’ll need to string together multiple winning weeks to get to the next bankroll level and have a realistic shot at completing the challenge.
